A Delhi scammer stole Rs 52,000 from a man's PhonePe wallet.

In Burari, a residential area in north Delhi, two men were arrested for allegedly withdrawing money from a person’s bank account through the e-wallet application PhonePe. Their names are identified as Sanjay, 40, from Mukundpur, and Rahul Dass, 24, from Burari.

An individual named Sandeep Sharma notified the police of the loss of his mobile phone on November 3.

After buying a new phone and activating the SIM card on November 5, he discovered that his PhonePe wallet was active. An unidentified person withdrew an amount of Rs 52,860, so he filed a complaint at the Burari police station.

It was determined that the beneficiary of the e-wallet application was found when records were obtained during the investigation. In the following days, Sanjay and Dass were arrested in Burari, according to the officer.

A police report states that Rahul recovered the victim's lost phone. According to the police, the tech-savvy suspect unlocked the phone, changed the security codes for the eWallet app, and transferred money to Sanjay, the owner of a pan shop, six to seven times.

Apparently, the owner of the pan shop kept a portion of the money for himself and gave the rest to Dass in cash.

According to the police, the accused filed a report a bit late since he thought the phone had been misplaced and he would eventually find it. The police located the lost mobile phone of the victim and a new device valued at * 20,000 that was in Dass' possession.
